Hot Rolled Sheet Metal Steel is a commercial quality (CQ), low Carbon mild flat steel sheet metal. Hot Rolled Sheet Metal Steel is employed in various non-structural applications; this easily formed metal can be welded, punched, drilled. Hot Rolled Steel allows for fabrication into many different shapes and has a standard mill finish that appears grey/blue. Many sheet metal products are fabricated and used in the transportation industry for repair and parts on tractor-trailers, smaller box trucks, UPS delivery trucks, garbage trucks, flatbed trucks, container chassis parts, container parts, truck replacement parts, machinery parts, and generally smaller lighter type of steel metal products. Cold Rolled Sheet Metal Steel also called Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) is a commercial grade, low carbon flat steel sheet metal. Cold Rolled Sheet Metal Steel is produced differently than hot rolled steel as it is first produced the same as Hot Rolled Steel and then allowed to cool down to room temperature to be further processed and temper rolled cold to our client's specs and dimensions. This process allows for a much more accurate final specification and finished tolerance, along with a cleaner surface. This manufacturing process creates a stronger sheet metal utilized in non-structural applications. The metal is highly formable, welded efficiently, provides more stringent thickness tolerances, and maintains a better surface quality than Hot Rolled Steel. Cold rolled steel has a finished look of a smooth surface with a grayish color.
Examples of cold roll products include home appliances, computer housings, metal furniture, and automotive parts.
Galvanized Sheet Metal Steel is a Commercial quality metal composed of low carbon; this flat steel sheet metal is coated with a protective layer of zinc. The galvanizing process consists of two different types of galvanizing.
The first type of metal galvanizing, electro galvanization, involves coating the steel sheet metal at ambient temperature, ensuring the physical properties of the steel remains the same. The second type of metal galvanizing is hot-dip galvanizing, involving submerging the steel sheet in a high-temperature batch of zinc that results in a bonding process at the microscopic level. This process increases the material strength and overall life and creates a rust-free corrosive resistant surface with a shiny appearance. Galvanized Sheet Steel is primarily employed in non-structural applications, and it offers a substantial increase in corrosion resistance over Hot Rolled Steel Sheets. This steel has a finish that appears somewhat shiny, silver-like.
Steel Diamond Plate is a Steel also known as Floor Plate, Safety Plate, Checkered Plate, and Skid Resistant Plate. Steel Diamond Plate is commercial quality steel with a textured surface and is easy to clean. A786 grade floor plate, a low carbon commercial quality steel, has physical properties of 33,000 psi minimum yield and 60,000 psi minimum tensile strength. A786 Steel Grade has a medium raised pattern of lines or elongated diamonds on the surface, which reduces and limits the possibility of slipping that offers improved traction. This material is used in many applications, including walkways, running boards, stair treads, kick plates, ramps, catwalks, truck beds, and any situation that would require a slip-resistant surface. Fabrication properties are suitable for forming, punching, drilling, machining, and welding. This steel has a mill finish that can appear grey or blue.
